Ruby Emerald Sapphire
Ruby- In Ancient times, the Ruby, represented passion,
courage and emotion, which transcended all geographical boundaries and
social class. Ancient Hindus
considered them to be ‘Ratnaraj’ or the ‘King of Precious Stones. Ruby
was regarded as the symbol of freedom, charity, dignity and divine
power and was believed to have mystical powers within.
Emeralds have long been the symbol of wealth and power worn by
royalty and highly regarded citizens. Ancient cultures believed that
emeralds symbolized love and rebirth, faith, kindness and goodness. The ancient Greeks wore green in Aphrodite’s
honor, and it was a mark of piety and devotion to Love to wear emeralds
on her sacred day. Aphrodite was not the only love goddess to be associated with emeralds.
In Peru, the Incas worshiped the goddess Umina, who took the form of an
enormous emerald the size of an ostrich egg. The sacred stone of Venus, the goddess of love, the emerald represents
love in all its facets.
Sapphires have been linked to royalty and nobility throughout recorded
history. They were the gems of choice among clergy, emperors and kings
in ancient civilizations. Worn by royalty as a symbol of good fortune,
virtue, wisdom and holiness, Kings wore sapphires around their neck as a
powerful defense from harm, as they believed it preserved the wearer
from envy and attracted divine favour. It represents spiritual
enlightenment and inner peace and is associated with romantic love.
